bear_santa.gif A Snowman / Ornament

Supplies needed:
1 empty, clean and dry aluminum soda can
1 sheet of white construction paper
1 sheet of black construction paper (for a hat)
1 full page of newspaper or a 2 full sheets of white tissue paper
white paint
masking tape
scrap fabric
fiberfil or quilting batting or cotton balls

1. Wrap the entire can in the white construction paper.

2. Using the entire page of your newspaper, form it into a ball and, using the masking tape, tape t to the top of the aluminum can. This will form the head of the snowman. Cover the rest of the newspaper with masking tape.

3. Paint the taped newspaper ball with the white paint and let it dry.

4. Cover the white body of the snowman with the fiberfil.

5. Make a construction paper hat for your snowman (unless you buy one or you can make one out of an old sock, and even a scarf - you would need approximately 20 inches long and one inch wide)

6. Add your eyes - made from the scrap fabric or black construction paper, or jiggle eyes or buttons.

7. Add an orange carrot like nose.

8. Add a string or a hook if you plan on putting your snowman on your tree.

The best part about this snowman is there is no right or wrong way, it's your snowman to make any way you like, so have fun. You may even want to make more of them.

We would love to see a picture of your snowman too.

bear_santa.gif A Pretzel Wreath

What you will need:

Full pretzels, the size is up to you, you can use the circle kind or the ones that are shaped like a heart with a cross in the middle.
Glue
Ribbons
and anything else you might want to add to it like bells
mom may even have so spare Christmas decorations you could use

Put some newspaper down first, this way you will not get glue on your table or work space.

Then you want to lay your pretzels in a circle to form a wreath. Now your ready to glue them together. This is your first layer, you may want to let it dry before you start on the second layer.

With the second layer, you want to start with the first pretzels in the middle of two pretzels on top of the first layer. This will make the wreath stronger. Once you have all your pretzels around the second layer, you can go ahead and glue them to the first layer. Again give this time to dry before you start to decorate.

Before you start to decorate try to remove your wreath from the newspaper, you may need to pull some of the newspaper off the wreath where the glue stuck. This is ok since no one will be looking on the back side of the wreath. Toss out the used newspaper and start with a clean one.

First take a ribbon or string that you will need to tie up on the top of the wreath that can be used to hang your wreath from. Now your ready to weave ribbon between the holes if you want, or decorate your wreath anyway you like.

bear_santa.gif Candy Wreath

For this one you can use a metal coat hanger, have an adult form it into a circle for you. The top will be the part of the hanger you hang with, that too can be bent into a little circle and wrap ribbon around it.

All you need for this is ribbon or string, and any candy that is wrapped at each end like a tootsie roll.

The idea is to tie the ribbon or string around one end of the candy and then tie it to the wreath. This will take some time to do, but when your done it is a nice way for people to help them self to a piece of candy. You might even want to tie a little scissor to the wreath to make it easier for guests to remove the candy with.

bear_santa.gif Wood to Ornaments

Did you ever think to ask your dad for some craft supplies or if he can take you to the hardware store for some? You might just be surprised with the items that dad might have laying around that he may no longer need, that you could use to make ornaments with.

With a little paint, and glue, and some other craft items, you could turn those scrap pieces of wood, metal, or chains into something really cool to hang from your Christmas tree.
