KEEP A FIRST AID KIT FOR CARPET HANDY CONSISTING OF:
1. Enzyme detergent
2. Ammonia — 1 part ammonia to 3 parts water
3. Neutral detergent — laundry type 1 tablespoon to a pint of water
4. Solvent cleaner — De-Solv-It
5. White vinegar — 1 part vinegar to 3 parts water
6. A small brush for removing spots — Do not rub spot too hard or distortion of the carpet will occur.
7. Blotting material — sponge and solid white paper towels
NOTE: Dry carpet as completely as possible immediately after spotting to avoid other damage. Direct stream of air from fan, a wet vacuum, or hair dryer to hasten drying.

SPOT REMOVAL PROCEDURES
Spots should be given attention immediately. The longer the spot sets, the greater chance of a permanent stain.
1. Blot up as much of the liquid as possible with a white paper towel. Paper towels with designs will transfer color onto the carpet.
2. Apply pressure on the towel to absorb more of the spot.
3. Repeat the step several times, turning the towel to a dry place each time.

BEER
Apply a cool solution of enzyme detergent with a sponge. Allow ten minutes for the solution to work. Blot with cool water and a white paper towel.

BLOOD
Apply a cool solution of enzyme detergent with a sponge. Allow ten minutes for the solution to work. Blot with cool water and a white paper towel.

CANDLE WAX
Scrape off excess wax with a dull knife. Lay a white paper towel over the wax and with a blow dryer, blow hot air on the towel. The heat will melt the wax and the towel will absorb. Clean with solvent solution if spot remains.

CANDY
Apply a detergent solution then blot with water. If spot remains, apply vinegar, then blot with water.

CATSUP
Apply a detergent solution mixed with cool water, then blot with water. If spot remains, apply an ammonia solution, then blot with water.

CIGARETTE BURNS
Can be partially remedied by clipping off blackened ends with small sharp scissors, then working in detergent solution and blotting with water.

COFFEE, TEA
Apply a detergent solution and blot with cool water. If stain persists, apply a vinegar solution and blot with water.

COUGH SYRUP
Apply a detergent solution and blot. If spot persists apply ammonia solution, then blot with water. If stain persists, contact your Rainbow International specialist.

CHEWING GUM
Freeze spot with ice cubes, then shatter with a blunt object. Vacuum out chips. Apply a solvent solution, wait several minutes, then blot with a water solution.

CHOCOLATE
Apply a cool solution of enzyme detergent with a sponge. Allow ten minutes for the solution to work. Blot with cool water and a white paper towel.

CRAYONS
Remove as much as possible by breaking loose with a blunt object, then vacuum out. Apply a small amount of solvent cleaner, then blot the crayon with white paper towel. If spot persists, apply neutral detergent solution and blot.

EGG
Apply a cool solution of enzyme detergent. Allow ten minutes for the solution to work. Blot with cool water.

FINGERNAIL POLISH
Sponge with nail polish remover. Blot color and repeat as necessary.

FRUIT JUICE
Sponge immediately with cool water. Apply an ammonia solution and blot with water.

GLUE, ELMER'S HOUSEHOLD
Blot with warm water. Sponge with detergent solution. If stain persists, treat with a solvent cleaning solution and blot with water.

GREASE
Sponge with solvent solution. Apply detergent solution and blot with water.

ICE CREAM
Sponge freely with cool water. Apply detergent solution and blot with water.

INK
Apply a solvent solution to a sponge and blot lightly to keep ink from spreading. Blot with water.

LIPSTICK
Apply a solvent solution to a sponge and blot lightly. Blot with water.

MERCUROCHROME
Sponge immediately with cool water. Apply an ammonia solution and blot with water.

MILK
Apply a cool solution of enzyme detergent with a sponge. Allow ten minutes for the solution to work. Blot with cool water and a white paper towel.

MUD
Let dry, then brush. Rinse repeatedly with cool water.

MUSTARD
Apply detergent solution. Blot with water. It is probable that stain will remain. Mustard is very difficult to remove from most carpets.

OIL
Same as for grease.

PAINT
Sponge with solvent. Blot with water. Apply detergent solution and blot with water.

RUST
Will usually require professional cleaning service for removal, but fresh stain can be helped by working detergent solution into spot and blotting with water.

SHOE POLISH
Sponge and blot immediately. If stain persists, call your Rainbow International Specialist.

SOFT DRINKS
Sponge immediately with cool water. Apply a detergent solution and blot with water. Apply an ammonia solution, agitate, then blot with water.

SOY SAUCE
Apply a cool solution of enzyme detergent with a sponge. Allow ten minutes for the solution to work. Blot with cool water and a white paper towel.

TAR
Sponge with solvent. Blot. Apply detergent solution and blot with water.

URINE
Sponge repeatedly with cool water. Agitate liquid detergent into stain and blot with water. Apply vinegar solution and blot with water.

VOMIT
Sponge with cool water. Apply enzyme detergent solution and let stand for 10 minutes. Blot with water.

WINE
Apply detergent solution and blot. If stain persists, apply an ammonia solution, then blot. If stain persists, apply a vinegar solution, then blot with water.
