Ingredients ::
- 1-1/2 cups sugar
- 3/4 cups shortening
- 2 eggs
- 2-1/4 cups flour
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1-1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1-1/4 cups strong coffee
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- Frosting:
- 1/3 cup butter, softened
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 2 Tablespoons cocoa
- 2 to 3 Tablespoons, hot strong coffee
- 1/4 teaspoon salt

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Cream the sugar and shortening together in a bowl; then beat in eggs. Add the flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda.
In another bowl, mix the coffee and cocoa together.
Add alternately with dry ingredients to creamed mixture.
Pour the batter into 2 greased and floured 9 inch pans.
Bake in a 350 degree oven for 30 to 35 minutes.
Cool before frosting.
Beat the frosting ingredients together with an electric mixter, adding more coffee IF needed to make a spreading consistency.
