Ingredients ::
- 3 cups flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 cup shortening
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3 eggs, separated
- 1 cup milk

In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, shortening and salt; like a pie crust.
Reserve 1 cup of this mixture for the topping later.
In a small bowl, beat the egg yolks and milk. Add this to the dry ingredients bowl and beat well.
In a separate clean/dry bowl, stiffly beat the egg whites; then add to the creamed mixture.
Put batter into a greased 9 x 13 inch pan.
Sprinkle top with the reserved crumbs (you might want to add a little cinnamon, and/or coconut)too.
Bake in the oven at 350 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes.
Remove from oven with oven mitts.
Serve for breakfast or a treat.
