Ingredients ::
  • 4 cups fresh asparagus, cut into 1 inch pieces
  • 1-1/2 cups milk
  • 2 Tablespoons flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 cup grated American cheese
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 2 Tablespoons butter

Makes: 4 to 6 servings

Preheat oven to 325 degrees.

Cook the asparagus in a little water untl tender; in a pot. Drain; then transfer the asparagus to a buttered baking dish.

In a bowl, combine the milk, flour, salt and pepper. Pour this over the asparagus.

In another bowl, add cheese and then half of the bread crumbs; stir. Sprinkle this on top of the asparagus.

Dot butter over the cheese, then sprinkle with the remaining bread crumbs.

Bake in the oven for 30 minutes OR until golden brown on top.
