Ingredients ::
- 1-1/2 cups butter
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 cup molasses
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon anise
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon allspice
- 1/2 teaspoon cardamom (optional)
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1/2 cup cold coffee (you could try Berres Brothers Gingersnap flavor)
- 5-1/2 to 6 cups flour
Christmas - Gingerbread cut-out cookies
From: Berres Brothers Coffee
In a saucepan, bring to a boil; butter, sugar, and molasses. Let this cool and then add the egg, ginger, cinnamon, anise, cloves, allspice, and cardamom.
Dissolve the baking soda, in the cold coffee.
In a large bowl, combine the spice mixture, coffee, and flour.
Place batter in refrigerator overnight.
Roll out dough on flour serface; cut with cookie cut out figures. Place onto a cookie sheet. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 6 to 7 minutes.
Cool before decorating.
