There is so much to learn in a childs life, and so many places to help that child like school, church, music class, sports teams, and even scouting.

Each girl should be given the chance to be the very best they can be and to see as much of life as they can. I was never a Girl Scout, but when the time came for my daughter to join I made sure she did, and I too joined as a Girl Scout leader. For nine years I would follow my daughter up the ranks and enjoyed every day of it. There was nothing better then teaching all the girls different things to help them earn their badges, and the places we got to go too.

The Mission Statement -
Girl Scouts Builds girls of courage, confidence and
character who make the world a better place.

The Girl Scout Promise -
On my honor, I will try:
To serve God and my country,
To help people at all times,
And to live by the Girl Scout Law.

The Girl Scout Law -
I will do my best to be
honest and fair,
friendly and helpful,
considerate and caring,
courageous and strong, and
responsible for what I say and do,
and to
respect myself and others,
respect authority,
use resources wisely,
make the world a better place, and
be a sister to every Girl Scout.

These are all great things to instill in our girls, plus it also gives them the chance to work towards Awards and Scholarships that have recognitions and opportunities that community organizations and many foundations make available to young women in our community, like:

President's Volunteer Service Award (PVSA)
All full-time students who contribute at 50-250 hours of service to the community are eligible for the PVSA. Girl Scouts of the Pioneer Council must certify that girls have completed the award.

Corinnne Jeannine Schillings Foundation
Scholarship for young women who have earned the Girl Scout Gold or Silver Award and who plan to or are currently pursuing a college major or minor in foreign language.

Sylvia L. Holmes Scholarship Program
This program is designed to help young women achieve higher education at an accredited college or university. The program has been formed by the family of Sylvia L. Holmes, and is designed to honor her many contributions and distinguished tenure as Executive Director of the Pioneer Council, Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. There will be one $500 scholarship for each academic year.

The American Legion Auxiliary Girl Scout Achievement Award, and there are more Scholarship Opportunities for Girl Scouts. Being a Girl Scout also looks good on a job application.
