Ingredients ::
- 1/3 cup butter
- 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 cup finely chopped pecans
- ***PECAN TOPPING***
- 2 Eggs -- beaten
- 3/4 cup dark corn syrup
- 1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 3 teaspoons all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup chopped pecans
Southern Pecan Bars
Cream butter and sugar, add flour and baking powder, blending until
mixture resembles coarse cornmeal. Stir in pecans.
Pat pecan mixture firmly into a well-greased 13x9x2 inch pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
Cover with Pecan Topping and bake 25 to 30 additional minutes.
Let cool before cutting into bars.
Yield: 30 bars
PECAN TOPPING:
Combine all ingredients, except pecans; pour over partially baked crust.
Sprinkle with pecans.
Yield: topping for 30 bars.
