A couple's first foray onto the dance floor is degined to be a moment of beauty in the midst of wedding hysteria: a three to four minute window of time for you and your new spouse to revel in each other's embrave and get lost in the big day. Sadly, few couples can over come the anxiety of looking stupid to ever have fun.

Some people don't know how to dance, and being called upon to dance in front of all their relatives is a nerve-wracking time! Plus the bride is in high heels and a dress with a long train and to top it all off, you just got married; emotions are running high.

The sad part is that it's going to be on the video, so if you don't know what you're doing, you'll have a record of it for life.

In order to make that fun and romantic, a little preparation goes a long way. So why not take some dance lessons, and you do not need to do it alone, get your wedding party to join you two.

Here are some tips for a perfect first dance:

1. Get lost in the moment and your partner. Don't worry about the guests; they love you and won't notice your mistakes if you don't make a big deal out them!

2. Make sure you can move in your dress, especially backwards. Check the train and the hem. Hem should be a least 1/2 inch off the floor.

3. Smile and keep moving, show a lot of teeth!

4. Start dancing together today. Make it less daunting by never being critical of each other's moves and inevitable mistakes.

5. Be sure your shoes work for dancing. Rubber soles can make you stumble and feel clumsy. Extra tip: putting a piece of clear elastic around a mule will help keep it on.

6. Face your guests at the end of the dance. Face toward the largest group of people for the big finish - the dip!

7. Get some professional help. Even 1 or 2 hours of lessons can really make a difference. At least the teacher can give you a few good pointers.

You may find that the dance lessons are fun and a great way to spend time together. Buf it the idea of taking lessons from an instructor is either too scary or too expensive, plenty of couples get married and have a great first dance without stepping inside a studio. There are also countles instructional videos and DVD's available, whether you're a pro or not: confidence is the key.
