Ingredients ::
- 1 Lb. round steak (1/4 inch thick)
- 1/4 cup vegetable shortening
- 1 clove garlic
- 1/2 cup finely cut onion
- 3 Tablespoons flour
- 1 can beef consomme
- 1-3/4 teaspoons salt
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1 can (4 oz.) mushrooms
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 2 Tablespoons chives (optional)
- 1 package egg noodles

Makes: 4 servings
Rub meat with garlic, both sides. Cut into 1-1/2 inch strips or squares.
Mix flour, salt, pepper, and paprika in a plastic food bag. Add meat and toss lightly, until strips are well coated.
Heat shortening in skillet, add meat, and brown well. Add onion, and continue cooking until onions are transparent. Add remaining flour mixture, consomme, water and mushrooms. Cover and cook slowly for 2 hours.
Remove cover, cook until slightly thickened. Add sour cream, chives and blend until sour cream is melted.
Cook egg noodles according to package directions.
Serve stroganoff over noodles.
Note, you can also try serving this over, rice, potatoes, and even toast to change the recipe around.
