There are other ways to use that buttermilk besides your pancake mix or chicken batter.

Stir it into mayonnaise or sour cream along with chopped fresh herbs, such as chives, tarragon or dill, to make a tangy dip for chips or veggies or even a backed potato.

Stir into mashed potatoes in place of milk or cream.

Use in place of milk for powdered sugar frostings and glazes.

Stir into melted semisweet chocolate for a tangy hot fudge sauce.

Make a smoothie by blending cold buttermilk with bananas and a little honey.

In pie crusts, substitue cold buttermilk for half of the cold water for a more tender, browned crust.

Add to scrambled eggs in place of milk, or even your batter for french toast.

Cooking Tip:

If you're not a buttermilk drinker, instead of buying buttermilk for your recipes. Instead have powdered buttermilk on hand, and you will not need to waist that unused buttermilk any more. bear_original.gif
