Perennials for a sunny area of your garden:

Aster: wide range of flower colors and heights, late blooming

Balloon Flower (Platycodon): Balloon shaped buds open to outfacing bells

Blazing Star (Liatris): a Wisconsin native, spires of purle red flowers

Coneflower (Echinacea): long blooming, attracts butterflies and birds / Echinacea Little Magnus - a dwarf selection with large dark magenta flowers. The petals are cup shaped when they first open and flatten to form large heads. It is a vigorous grower and very floriferous.

Daylily (Hemerocallis): 1,000's of varieties to choose from, black thumb resistant! Siloam Paul Watts - is regarded as one of the best red daylilies. It produces an exceptionally high quantity of ruffled edged velvety red flowers with a green throat.

False Indigo (Baptisia): unbeatable large specimen perennial, a Wisconsin native

Nepeta: very long blooming, eager grower, rabbit/deer resistant

Perennial Geranimu: super hardy, long blooming, great color range

Salvia: blue, cream or pink flower spikes in spring, shear for rebloom

Siberian Iris: Elegant cut flower, tolerant of wet soil

Yarrow (Achillea): great for dry floral arrangements


Perennials for a shaded area of your garden or around the home or garage as borders:

American Ginger (Asarum): fabulous foliage groundcover

Bleeding Heart (Dicentra): a beautiful old fashioned favorite

Fairy Candles (Cimicifuga): late season spires of creamy white flowers on tall
stems

Foamflower (Tiarella): foamy spires of rose or cream flowers, unique foliage

Goatsbeard (Aruncus): plumes of cream flowers in early summer

Hosta: leaves thumbnail sized to serving platter size, foliage color from golden to blue. The Hosta Earth Angel - is a spectacular blue Angel that have very large heart shaped, blue green leaves with a wide creamy shite margin pale purple flowers and heavy substance. it forms a huge mound, so make sure you space accodingly. This variety has excellent slug resistance.

Lady's Mantle (Alchemilla): foliage collects "diamonds" of dew, airy chartreuse flowers

Lungwort (Pulmonaria): long blooming clusters of flowers, attractive foliage

Masterwort (Astrantia): unusual star like flowers in shades of rose and cream

Merrybells (Uvularia): hanging yellow bells in spring

Perennial Forget Me Not (Brunnera): large heart shaped leafs and sky blue flowers

More Perennial to think of:

Amsonia Blue Ice - has clusters of navy blue buds that open to large periwinkle blue star shaped flowers. Its bright green leaves turn yellow in the fall and form a compact clump.

Aquilegia (Columbine) Songbird Bunting - a great plant to start the spring off. With its blue green foliage and compact habit it is good to use as a border or in beds as well. it has beautiful upright sky blue flowers mixed with white. it grows well in sun or part shade. It is a more deer resistant variety that attracts birds and butterflies.

Astilbe Visions in White - has the same sturdy, full plumes on thick stems as other "Visions" varieties only in a pure white form, which is sure to brighten dark areas. It forms a robust clump. It can tolerate part sun to shade.

Coreopsis Jethro Tull - has fluted petals with large double golden flowers above a compact mound of green foliage. It is very floriferous and sure to compliment any garden.

Daisies

Grass Panicum Prairie Fire - is a Red Switch Grass that has improved tremendously over older red panicums. it emerges with blue green foliage that turns a stunning wine red in early summer and produces rosy flower panicles just above the foliage.

Lilies

Monarda Grand Marshall - is a mid sized variety with billiant fuchsia purple flowers above dark green foliage. It exhibits excellent mildew resistance. It is a deer resistant variety and attracts butterflies and hummingbirds.

Poppies

Rudbeckia Viette's Little Suzy - is a dwarf 'Black Eyed Susan' form. Its deep yellow flowers with dark cones are sure to catch your eye from July through fall. Use this as a border or specimen plant.

Salvia Caradonna - a neat clump forming plant with narrow leaves. It has an upright habit with unique dark purple stems that compliment the bright violet blue flowers early summer. Deadheading with encourage new flowers.

Sedums

Veronica Darwin's Blue - has lush dark green foliage with beautiful upright, purple blue flowers all summer long. This makes a great border plant and is easy to grow.
