Ingredients ::
- 6 medium baking apples, pared and cored
- 3/4 cup brown sugar (packed)
- 2 Tablespoons soft butter
- 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 2 eggs
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups milk, scalded
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Makes: 6 servings
Place apples in individual baking dishes.
Mix brown sugar, butter and cinnamon; fill centers of apples with sugar mixture.
Beat eggs, granulated sugar, salt, milk and vanilla; divide egg mixture among the dishes.
Place dishes in baking pan; pour in very hot water around the dishes (about 1 inch deep).
Bake for 45 to 60 minutes or until knife inserted in custard comes out clean.
Serve warm or cool.
