Everyone enjoys going out for dinner!
Sometimes just the reason needed to get all dressed up. But sometimes it is just to see how the dinning table will be set. From the outstanding candles, or centerpiece, to the dishes and the little extras. This is just the start of the dinning experience, you now know that the food coming will look just as good as the table and worth the wait.
So why not make dinner time at home just as nice! Too much work? Nope, it just takes a few minutes to add something to the table. If you have more time then you may even want to go with a theme to go with dinner. No reason you can not make dinner time more fun, or interesting, inviting, or romantic. You may find that other members of the family will enjoy setting the table too, or like the effort you have made for them.

It is so simple, just put something in the center of your table. Pick a nick-knack or a book, pick some flowers or fill a vase. A vase or glass or even a bowl can be filled with fruits, vegetables, extra napkins, holiday decorations, and even weeds. The fun can be to find something different just to start up the conversation when everyone comes to the table.
Change the table cloth or table runner, or use placemats, kids love to make paper placemats. Even school art work could be displayed on the table.
The next time you make or serve Chinese, use bowls instead of plates and try chop sticks. Or have an indoor picnic with paper plates and plastic.
Let your imagination go and have some fun with your table, and see your family and guest's eyes light up when they see it.

A Cake Stand
[attachmentid=359]
Here are some ideas to use a cake stand or two of them for different centerpieces. Don't have a cake stand, then take a pretty, and wide base glass or even a glass bowl for the bottom and place a glass plate or cake plate on top. You can also put something into the glass or bowl to add color to your centerpiece.
1. You can use the cake stand to show off the treats that are for after the meal.
2. Arrange votive and pillar candles, in the same of different colors, and in assorted sizes. You may want to use a doily to protect the plate from wax.
3. Exhibiting your treasures on the cake stand, decorated eggs, pretty rocks, small photos and mementos, or holiday stuff.
Let us know what you come up with to show case on a cake stand.

[attachmentid=439] BOWLS
Try different bowls with different things inside of them as a centerpiece.
Something so cool and so simple is a glass bowl with a fish in it.
Fruits, ornament's, colored eggs, flowers, pine cones are just a few ideas to fill your bowl with.
You can also use colored sand, shells, and rocks to layer on the bottom of the bowl with candles or a small plant on top.
Once you start, you will find lots of different things to fill your bowl with.

A Little Tree can make a great centerpiece.
The tree could be a real live pine tree, or a fake one you would find around Christmas time.
[attachmentid=449]
The little tree could be decorated each month for the different holidays too.
[attachmentid=450]
You can place the tree on top of a cloth napkin or runner. You can even change the pot or base of the tree for a different look.
Even special decorative buttons can be used to make the ornaments for the tree. Another idea is ribbons tied in bows, red white and blue for the 4th of July, pink for breast cancer, pink or blue for a baby shower. The possibilities are endless and fun.

Fall Fun!
It's time to harvest those pumpkins, squash and other veggies and change them into Fun-Kins, where you paint them. For a fun, brighter look, get inspiration from traditional prints by painting argyles, dots, checks, plaids and strips in exciting color combinations. Try some dimensional copper or iridescent brown paints. Add something different to you fall decorations or season table setting.

Show Them Off!
Colored Eggs! You have taken the time to make them special so why not display them in a special way too. There are other ways besides puting them into a basket.
If you take the time to use a real egg, and have poked a hole on each end to remove the inside egg; then your ready to put a string through it and hang it. You can hang them from a curtin, just like you might with a Christmas ornament. Or a tiny tree on the table, or use a christmas ornament stand.
A large glass bowl or vase works nice, just fill it with the eggs and then the silk flowers on top. Use artificial eggs if you will be filling the container with water and real flowers.
Out of candles? That's ok, place an egg in place of the candle; in your candle holder. Glitter-glue sprayed eggs make a striking arrangement.

How about FRUIT!
A pretty basket filled with fruit.
Or use your fruit to build something like a Mr. Potato head

You could also carve it, and the pumpkin is not the only one!
How about the watermelon.
