Ingredients ::
- 2 (2-1/2 to 3 Lb.) broiler-fryers
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 Tablespoons salad oil
- 1-16 oz. can tomatoes
- 1-6 oz. can tomato paste
- 2 short cinnamon sticks
- 6 whole cloves
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
Makes 8 servings
Prep time: 1/2 hour
Cooking time: 5 hours
Coat the cut up fryers with flour. In 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat, with salad oil, brown chicken.
In a 3-1/2 to 5 quart slow-cooker, mix chicken well with tomatoes, tomato paste, cinnamon sticks, cloves, salt and pepper. (may want to put sticks and cloves in cheese cloth to remove later easy) Cover; cook on low setting (180 to 200 degrees) for about 5 hours.
Discard spices before serving.

To cook on top of range:
Brown chicken in 5-quart Dutch oven; add remaining ingredients. Cover; simmer 1 hour.
