bear_flower.gif To you moms and dads get involved, take an interest in your daughter or son's big event. This is a good time to remember your Prom and share your stories. A time to remember what made your special day something to remember. Now you can help them to have a day worth remembering too.

This is a great time to bond and share with your teen. Take the time to listen to see what they want to do. Make a list, figure out the budget on who will pay for what, and who will do what. Keep in mind who will in the family will want prom pictures.

What is the Prom theme?

Here is a list for the guys and gals that may help plan.

For the guys:

1. Asking the girl to go to the Prom, don't put it off.

2. Buy the tickets

3. Renting the tux (make sure you know what color the dress is that your date will be wearing).

4. The wheels, will you rent a Limousine, barrow someones car, car pool, or need to make sure your car is clean.

5. What will you do before the prom, dinner, a pre-party, have pictures taken at a park.

6. The flowers, since you know what color the dress is you may also want to know what her favorite flowers might be. You may even want to ask her if she would like a corsage to pin to her dress, or flowers for her wrist, or a hand bokay. Ask her if she would like real or silk flowers. Silk flowers do last better on a hot day, and if she is the sentimental type - she may want to keep the flowers after Prom as a keepsake. You could even get a charm and have it tied to the ribbon for her to keep after Prom to wear. Don't be afraid to ask her questions, it shows you care.

7. What will you do after the prom, stopping for desert at a special restaurant, a carriage ride, a drive along a scenic route.

Keep in mind this is a night to remember for you both, stay sober (no drinking) drive safe, use your manners and open the doors for her. Tonight you are her prince charming, it is not about having sex.

For the gals

1. It is all about the dress, the way it will make you feel, and the look in his eyes when he first sees you. Will you buy it or make it, will it be knee length or full length. This is a great time to see if there is a Prom Fashion Show in your area. These are often held at the mall or sometimes at the hotels. Many bridal shops like to show off their prom dresses, and it is a fun way to get ideas for your dress. Take a day or two to just try on dresses to see what styles or colors look best on you. Other then a wedding it is your day to shine, to show off the young lady you are.

2. Don't forget the under garments.

3. The shoes, if you are buying them new or going to wear heels for the first time, make sure to wear them around the house as much as you can before that night. It will be a long time to be wearing those shoes and the last thing you want is your feet to hurt. (hint: if your wearing a long dress you could put a pair of booty socks in your purse, just in case)

4. The hand bag, the coat or shall or sweater, and gloves.

5. The jewelry, the hair piece, the make up.

6. Will you need to make appointments to have your hair or nails done.

7. His bu-tinier (flower).

8. The garter, the one item he gets to keep to remember the prom and hang it from his car mirror. So make it special, there are many places to buy them or make it. You can also get a charm to attach to it.

When the big day comes remember to smile, today you are a princess so act like a young lady, tell him thank you for taking you. Together you will both have a great time and memories to remember. bear_original.gif

bear_flower.gif Prom is a special event for teens, and some take that idea to heart by making a special prom outfit.

There have been toilet paper wedding dresses, and dresses made of balloons, and even chocolate dresses in the fashion world.

Then came the duck tape dress and tux. [attachmentid=559]

And even the flowers. [attachmentid=560]

Now we have the gum wrapper outfit. [attachmentid=561]

Sunday April 11, 2010
GARNER, Iowa -- An Iowa teen is all bubbly over her one-of-a-kind high school prom dress she made out of gum wrappers. Elizabeth Rasmuson made her dress - and matching vest for her date - out of blue and white wrappers from Wrigley's "5 gum." The high school junior says she got the idea after hearing about someone making a dress out of duct tape.
She and her boyfriend began collecting gum wrappers last August. Rasmuson says she quit counting after 200.
Since the wrappers break easily, Rasmuson finished her dress with a vinyl top coat.
