Napkins! bear_grin.gif

Yes I am talking about those napkins you get with your meal. But have you ever taken the time to really look at them?

Napkins come in different colors, and shapes and can be printed on.

What better hobby then collecting napkins, and since you get them free that's even better.

My brother Robert has been collecting them for over 30 years. He has napkins from lots of restaurants, some no longer in business and even one that had a fire.

He also has lots from parties like: anniversaries, baby showers, birthdays, graduations, religious events and weddings.

Then there are the bar napkins too.

If you travel you can even collect hotel napkins.

You will be surprised how many people you know will be happy to think of you and collect them for you.

Each napkin has a story to tell. A great way to remember special days and places in a scrapbook.

Beer cans!

Beer can collecting has been strong for a long time among a dedicated group of collectors. In fact, it started a short time after the first can was made to hold beer. That happened on January 24, 1935, at the G. Krueger Brewing Company plant in Richmond, VA.

The best way to find other collectors is to join a collectors club.

For beer cans, visit the Web sites of the Brewery Collectibles Club of America (www.BCCA.com) and the American Breweriana Association (www.americanbreweriana.org) Each group publishes a magazine for collectors.

The record price for a beer can, according to Terry Kovel (March 7, 2010) from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and their files, it was $19,000.00 for a 1941 flat-top Clipper Pale Beer can. It sold on eBay in 2002.
